Just thought I’d thank you all for providing me a “Quality” backpack sprayer back in March, 2012.
I’ve used it for many, many hours. I’ve always flushed the unit with hot soapy water and kept up with maintenance. Well, yesterday the diaphragm developed a pin hole and started to leak, only while rapidly pumping. I was able to complete my job and ordered a genuine Solo repair kit.
I consider this sprayer to be one of the best investments I’ve ever made. My Dad had an old vertical pump steel sprayer. I cannot remember the name of the company who made it. I just know he always flushed it out with hot soapy water and never had any problems even when applying the good old discontinued chemicals like Chlordane, and all the rest of the insecticides from Chevron/Ortho that have been discontinued. My Dad was an avid grower of all plants and used his heavy tank sprayer religiously. He even had a real long brass extension used for spraying his fruit trees.
AND speaking of quality, I attached 2 certified uses in advertising years ago. You know it’s the “real deal” by the ancient telephone number and prehistoric 2 digit zip code. I found this old yellowed document taped to a wall on my late Uncle John’s workshop. Drop lite was an American manufacturer of mechanics’ 120 volt trouble lights used for working on cars…I know.

I wanted to give a review of the service I recently received from Solo Technical Support. I had questions about a repair kit for a model 425 sprayer and was assisted by Mr. Thornton Cutchin. He was the friendliest, most knowledgeable customer support I’ve encountered lately. I would give him 10 stars for his service. Ever time I’ve contacted Solo in the past the service was always excellent.
I’m writing you regarding Tierra Howard. I called in for information and service and spoke with her. I have called companies, service centers and the like my whole life. To be very honest – few, if any, have given me the service, professionalism, caring, kindness and general good feeling; all she wanted to do was help me.
I spent my years teaching Elem. School and do not have much background in business. But, I do know service because I am on the receiving end of it. Tierra stands alone and if there is some computer model to show how interactions with clients bring up the percentage of clients returning to purchase merchandise from your company, I am absolutely sure Tierra will be, if not the best, but very close to it.

I am writing to let you know about the good customer service that I received from Solo USA. I call your customer service number because I needed help with model identification and a rebuild kit for an older Solo backpack pump sprayer. Not only did someone answer the phone, immediately understood my request and transferred me to Krystal Diggs who help me identify my model (475) and proper rebuild kit number as well as sent me technical information to help me do the rebuild.
It is refreshing to have such prompt and good customer service.

Krystal was a great help getting me a replacement O-ring and control valve for my new backpack sprayer. When we discovered that I requested the wrong O-ring, she went the extra mile and sent the correct part that day. No charge for the item or for the cost of mailing. Outstanding customer service will keep me and other customers returning to Solo products.
I had the pleasure of speaking with Tierra Howard today. Tierra was very knowledgeable, easy to understand and took care of my issue promptly and with great feedback. I will definitely use Solo in the future based on this experience.
A few weeks ago I called and was able to speak with a technical guy who told me I needed a certain part which was mailed to me without charge. And two days ago I called again and spoke with Krystal who connected me to another tech guy with whom I spoke without a wait time. Then I called back and ordered another part from Krystal and she mailed two for good measure (they’re $.50/each) again without charge. The customer service is excellent – no wait times, always talk with a kind and professional human being in no time and even talk with technical experts, as well, with no wait time. Then to top things off, I’m mailed parts for free. Quite a team you have there – reward them well.

I would like to share my recent experience with Solo Corporation. I own a few Solo products and I always appreciated the quality of the products and in fact that they are MADE IN USA. I called customer service a few weeks ago in regard to an issue with a sprayer and I was very impressed to hear a friendly voice to answer the phone call and to connect me with the customer service representative Krystal Insley.
I think Krystal went out of her way to solve the issue and sent me the part with all details and tracking numbers. She is very detail-minded and follow-through until the issue is resolved.
BTW, the music that was playing while I was on hold for a few minutes to talk to Krystal is a great 70s rock and in my case makes it more fun to wait than listening to elevator music.

I was extremely stressed out as I discovered I couldn’t use my powdered substance in a lithium backpack. I was advised to get the pump spray backpack. I ended up calling Solo and getting Krystal on the phone. She was so patient and understanding. I had to take a work call during our phone call and she was extremely patient with me. I was lucky to have had someone so knowledgeable, informative, and encouraging on the phone. I ended up buying two more than I initially wanted. A total of 6 backpack sprayers. She was extremely attentive and followed up. I hope all of your other employees are like her because I would enjoy doing more business with you.

Solo’s customer service department promptly answered my call. They were most friendly, helpful and very supportive regarding a concern I had with one of their products. In a world of indifference it’s nice to know that there are still corporations out there who still care about the consumer and still stand on quality and integrity.
My first order with Solo was 22 years ago. Recently, I was using my 457 sprayer and dropped it and the handle broke. Hurricane Dorian was heading directly towards us and I wanted to be prepared should I need my sprayer after the storm. Krystal Insley was able to send me the replacement parts, which were received within a few days. Hours and hours passed and the storm never came ashore but my sprayer is perfect, just like it was the first day I purchased it all those years ago. I will be using my Solo Sprayer in the coming days for sure. I have purchased other items over the years from Solo and even made a few more purchases after the storm passed. This is due to a great product and even greater customer service! Now that Hurricane left us and is heading in your direction please be prepared and be safe.
This morning, August 30, I had reason to call your customer support line at approximately 9:30am EST. I spoke to a Ms. Krystal Insley. First, I’d like to compliment Solo for connecting me to a human being without first having to make a dozen menu choices and sitting on hold for 10 minutes. Next, I wish to compliment Krystal on the way she handled the call. She was courteous, listened to my problem, and was apologetic on behalf of the company. This was a refreshing change from my other customer service encounters of recent! Krystal not only handled my problem (missing nozzle tips), she also offered to email me information she had compiled on replacing the tips, based on her other customer experiences. My customer service experience thankfully exceeded all expectations!
I have a steep back yard and trying to use the drop or broadcast spreaders that are mounted on 2 wheels was difficult to spread fertilizer evenly, not to mention keeping the wheels from binding up. The hand held spreaders caused my hand to cramp and required frequent refilling. I just purchased this spreader and used it for the first time and Wow, it worked incredibly. I should have purchased one of these years ago. Will never go back to the traditional spreaders. The Solo 421 spreader was very comfortably strapped to the front of me. The back strap is easy to put on. The crank arm is very smooth and since the gear mechanism is not in contact with the material you are spreading, it doesn’t gum up or plug the gear mechanism. It even has a place to keep the gears lubricated for long term ease of use and proper maintenance. The Solo 421 can also be used to spread ice melt, grass seed and other applications. It is quiet and light weight. The top lid is somewhat see through so you you see how much you are spreading and how much is left and it seals the container nicely so you don’t smell what you are applying. It is very easy to adjust the flow rate and the width of fertilizer dispersion. I would highly recommend this chest mount spreader to anyone!
I was in need of rebuilding the piston pump on my backpack sprayer so I purchased a rebuild kit and then accessed the instructions at the Solo website. I discovered that I was not able to use the included photos because they were too small for me to distinguish details. I emailed customer support and they responded with an attachment of the service manual which contained larger photos. They proved quite functional. I am very grateful for the quick, effective response.
I purchased my first Solo sprayer about twenty years ago and found it to be the best hand held sprayer I ever had. It finally wore out and I replaced it with the same model, although that replacement did not seem to perform well for me. I contacted Solo about the problem and after several attempts to correct the issue Solo, without hesitation, sent me a new sprayer that has performed flawlessly. I am now back to having, once again, the best hand held sprayer I could ask for.
My contact with Solo was primarily with Thornton Cutchin, and he could not have been more helpful. A good representative of the company in my opinion.
Was having problems with the nozzle on my 475-101 backpack sprayer; Solo sent me a replacement nozzle assembly at no cost to me, no questions asked; now THAT’S real customer service that merits KUDOS.

I wanted to give you some positive feedback on my recent replacement part order.
Solo makes the best pump sprayer out there…..except for the old pump handle design that I have put up with for years. The handle simply doesn’t stay locked in place, and the tank ends up dropping to the ground while you’re still holding the handle. I discovered the newer sprayers had a locking pin design, so I placed an online order for a new Solo 456 pump assembly (to hopefully end my frustration), with the following note:
On the new pump assembly, I only want the new design that secures the handle with the 2 pins integrated into the pump piston handle. If this pump assembly is the old, lousy design…I don’t want it and don’t ship it. The new design is far better.
The next day I get an email, and a phone call…with pictures of the complete pump…from Krystal Insley with your customer service department. She wanted to make sure what the company was about to ship me, is what I was looking for. It was Perfect! I was blown away with her follow-up on a $16.45 replacement part. Not $16,000 or $1,600. $16 Bucks. I thought her willingness to actually go take pictures, and then call me to confirm, was over the top. An amazing job.
You can hear the edge in my original order tone that reflected my frustration with your product. Krystal completely changed my view of the Solo company and how it responds. If she ever moves to Archbold, OH we’ll give her a job in our customer service area! She’s great!

I had a question about a sprayer nozzle. I received a prompt, courteous reply from Thornton. He sent me a link to a you tube explanation of my problem. And I apologized to him for being so dense. After over a decade of reliable service my recoil starter on my Solo leaf blower locked up. After searching Google for parts I took the starter to the Solo distribution center. The technician disappeared with my blower for about 20 minutes and returned with a filter and gasket I requested and my starter in perfect condition. I’ve always been in awe of German engineering and now I’m blown away (no pun intended) by their customer service.
It was truly a pleasure contacting your company yesterday in regards to a part that I needed for my solo sprayer. When my call was answered by a very cheery woman by the name of Krystal, she knew exactly which part I was looking for and provided me with a link to YouTube on how to install the new part. I just wish all my contacts with different suppliers were as pleasurable as this one with your company and Krystal.
I am really happy with the response I received. Being a handyman I need my tools to be performing properly and Solo made sure that I had minimal downtime with my problem with the pump. I received my replacement part sooner than I thought I would. I am very happy and appreciative that I am able to use my pump again and continue with my job.

I have a SOLO 417 backpack sprayer which stopped working; probably 3 – 4 years old.
Searching SOLO’s website, I found a couple of reasonably close service providers, however, upon inquiry none would work on your electrically operated equipment.
I reached out to SOLO via its website and connected with Thornton, who assisted me in arranging for the return of my sprayer to SOLO, diagnosed the problem, and replaced the “dead” electrical motor to me under warranty and at no charge.
It is encouraging to me that your firm undertook to service this +$200 sprayer, as one might view this as a “throw away” item and just replace it, vs. seeking repair and continued utilization.
SOLO made the process simple and hopefully has positioned me for a few more years of effective use of this landscape maintenance tool.

Every now and then you stubble across a product and or company that has it figured out. At SOLO “They Get It”. My experience with SOLO actually started several years ago. I had the opportunity to spend several hours with both production and management personnel at the local SOLO manufacturing facility. Needless to say as a home owner and do it yourselfer I took the opportunity to express my frustration with many of the pump garden sprayers I owned over the years. I explained that I had owned numerous brands both metal and plastic and regardless of how much they cost they all seemed to fail within a short period of time. Many perform poorly from the start. I asked why can’t you buy a sprayer that works? A SOLO representative educated me on their history producing sprayers and suggested “Try a SOLO.” Within a short time I again was in need of a replacement sprayer and decided to take his advise. I purchased a 457 3 gallon sprayer and as promised it worked perfectly out of the box. It has continued to work flawlessly for 2+ seasons spraying an assortment of liquids. Approximately one year after purchasing the 457 a friend brought up his need for a dependable sprayer. I shared the advise given to me now some year or so earlier. He purchased a SOLO and his frustration with pump sprayers are over.
Fast forward to 2019. I was in the area of the SOLO plant and had a few questions regarding the smaller pump sprayers. I decided what the heck why not stop in and see if someone there will speak with me. This is a factory, not a retail store. I walked in the main entrance and explained to the lady at the desk that I had a question regarding sprayers and wondered if there was someone I could speak with. She was quick to offer assistance and within seconds had someone coming to the front desk. I was greeted by a very knowledgeable very pleasant employee. He was eager to listen to my questions and took personal interest in my needs. He took ownership of the issue and made it a point to find the answer and resolve my question. They aren’t set up for walk in customers yet they stopped what they were doing and the gentleman who came from the back I’m sure has other responsibilities. This is what I base my “They Get it” statement. Not only do they make the best sprayers but their employees take pride in what they do and it shows.

I purchased my first battery-powered Solo backpack sprayer and had an issue with the pressure gauge. I emailed Solo and received a reply from Thornton Cutchin the same day with a solution. It is very refreshing to deal with a company that stands behind their product and, most importantly, handles issues in a timely manner if/when they arise. I would highly recommend Solo products for their quality products and superior customer service!

I am very, very pleased with the service I received in placing my order for some parts for our Solo sprayer. I recently placed an order online which was cancelled. I then received an email that my order had been cancelled because there was a problem with my order and that I should call in and another email that my payment had been accepted. So I called and was informed by Krystal my order was canceled because I included a comment about accepting PayPal as an acceptable means of payment and that she would be able to place the order again for me. So I gave her my card again and she placed the order which generated a second charge to my account. For some unknown reason it took several days for my bank to completely process the second charge. While I was waiting I wrote Krystal about being charged twice. She was polite and responded quickly that they had only received the first payment. I waited for the bank to finally process the second charge. I then received a phone call from Krystal regarding having received the second payment. She was very apologetic and was willing to process a refund right away. She went out of her way to contact me about the second payment which in this day and age is unusual. She was polite, courteous and quick to process my refund. I consider the follow up great customer service both when the order was placed and when there was issue with payment. We have been using Solo sprayers on our lavender farm for several years. When I get in a bind and don’t know which replacement parts to order, Daisy has always been such a great help to us! In fact when I call I just ask for her because I know that she will always come through and she always is such a delight to talk to. I’m sure that you know you have a very valuable employee with Daisy but it always helps to let a company know what a difference that person makes for the customer as well. The sprayer pack is the only Solo product that I have experience with. The performance of the unit is excellent. It is easy to use and easy to clean, both of which contributes to the quality of the unit. I recently had a hook attached to the sprayer break through normal use. I contacted customer service who forwarded my request for replacement hooks. I was provided with an answer within 36 hours and new hooks are being shipped. This immediate response was greatly appreciated.
I was surprised at the quick response that I got from Solo for the problem that I had with a pressure relief valve. The sprayer is very good and head and shoulders above the previous one that I had purchased at Lowe’s. Thank You
This morning, I had the pleasure of speaking with your representative to order parts for my solo backpack sprayer. This individual was not only able to handle my order, she was truly a treat to deal with, someone who was so very polite . I did not get this lady’s name but I would like to take this opportunity to thank her for the way she handled my order. Solo company should be very proud of this lady and recognize her for her GOOD work. Thanks again !! Oh, by the way, the backpack sprayer has been absolutely bullet proof since I bought it years ago, except for the carry straps which wore out, but that is no big deal.

I bought a Solo backpack sprayer and was very baffled about what some of the parts were and what to do with them. I called Solo and was connected with Krystal. She knew exactly what those parts were, sent me pictures, explanations, and walked me through the process of using them on the nozzle. She enlisted the help of Meaghan and thanks to them I feel comfortable that my sprayer is put together properly. Krystal even followed through with a call to make sure my issues were resolved. I can’t wait until the wind and rain stop so I can spray the weeds in my yard. Great customer service! I recommend buying Solo as their customer service is there to help if needed. It IS a good morning because of the wonderful customer service I just received from Solo. The lady that answered the phone was very pleasant and she directed me to Daisey Taylor. Oh my stars, what a great person you have in customer service, she made me smile and laugh and yes even on a Monday morning. She found the product I needed, answered some additional questions, got my order placed for me. Daisey is so kind, friendly and very efficient at her job. She explained to me the reason I couldn’t find my model # on the web site was because the model # had changed. And she gave me that new model # for future reference. I recently ordered from your company through the customer service department employee Krystal Insley and it was a wonderful experience. She was extremely helpful and gave me her full effort through a potentially confusing and frustrating ordering process. She helped me to understand your product and how to best maintain them as well as a better understanding of your company. We have used these products for years and are now needing to repair/replace items and I am glad I was able to call and get all the information I needed especially since the products we use are outdated and obsolete whereas on my own I would have ordered the wrong kits. Overall this was a pleasant experience and we will be repeating customers.
